New Year's Eve

As 2010 come to a close let's toast to a new year full of fun a surprises!

Beautiful stemware to serve up some champagne. (in this case, it's ginger ale--hate to spoil the occasion....)

Have a sip. . .

In true Shabby style, a chipped ironstone platter makes a great serving tray.

Tarnished silver adds sparkle!

Great lighting and the golden hue of the chosen beverage add to the festive atmosphere!

Je vous souhaite Bonne Année et bonne santé. Je tiens à vous envoyer mes meilleurs vœux d'heureuse nouvelle année. À l'année prochaine!

Vintage Paris

As my blog is titled "Shabby French Cottage" I feel it has been a while since I've done a true "Shabby French" Post! As a result of re-arranging from Christmas, I came up with this mostly white vignette!

A pretty pin cushion doll stands proud here. In the background you can see where I used several rolls of vintage dry-wall tape as a riser.

Another pin cushion doll rests in a pink milk glass compote. In the background are apothecary jars full of antique bone and mother of pearl buttons and vintage spools of twine.

Old books, vintage jewelry, and crowns make up this vignette.

But look closer at the 'crowns'. In fact they are not crowns at all!

The 'crowns' came from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. They were originally marked $0.10 (ten cents) each. When I went to pay--the cashier said she couldn't charge me for those--so she gave them to me!

What they actually are are vintage gutter guards to keep your downspouts from getting clogged up with leaves and other debris! When I got them, they had long spikey wire protruding from the bottom--I just broke those off and ended up with two beautiful FREE crowns! Originally I intended to add an an embellishment or finial of some sort to the top, but as of yet, that has not happened!

Here is one more shot of this vignette! I hope you have enjoyed your visit--there are more great things in store! My laundry room reveal is almost ready!! Plus new dining room table, and more! So be sure to check back often--if you haven't become a follower, please do so to be sure to stay up-to-date with everything here @ Shabby French Cottage. I'm linking up to a bunch of parties- you can find the links in my side bar--if I've missed someone, I apologize and will fix it ASAP!

Snow on Snow on Snow

It started snowing Christmas morning in my neck of the woods. I was inspired by the beauty of the snow and the wonderful poem by Christina Rossetti. . .

Hall Christmas Decor

Here are some of the Christmas Goodies from my hall!

Winterfied Chandelier

I wanted to show off how I winter-fied the chandelier in the dining room.

I wanted to decorate it for Christmas, but at the same time be able to leave it that way until Spring.

So first, I hung a clear bead and grelots (jingle bells) garland.

Then I added lots of glass icicles! Instant winter shiver...err...shimmer to last me 'til Spring.

I really love the effect it gives! Warm Winter Wishes from Shabby French Cottage!
