$1,200 Kitchen Makeover Updates

It's been quite a while since I posted any photos of my kitchen! Way back in 2011 I had some plumbing issues and ended up having to rip out my cabinets to fix everything. I posted the project here and needless to say it went viral. My kitchen has been featured on nearly every major home decorating/DIY blog out there. It even got a six page spread in Romantic Homes magazine. While many things have stayed the same, I have made a few updates here and there I wanted to share!

Now:

I bought this fabulous farm table to serve as an island. It is perfectly chippy and shabby! Plus it gives me so much more prep room. I've had a lot of questions about my green mirror. I bought it and another mirror about the same size for $7 at a farm auction. 4 cans of Pistachio Green spray paint later, I got this beauty. It was one of those ugly gold plastic mirrors! Ha!!!

2011:

This is my old island. You can see the size difference by looking at the wire basket underneath.

Now:

Here is a close-up of the French agricultural awards that are hung all over the kitchen. Mine are reproduction, but I will certainly add some real ones as I find them. The rooster is an original oil painted by a friend.

2011:

Now:

I put a few blue canning jars on my vent hood shelf, added a large clock, and some other goodies.

I started collecting chocolate molds and cutting boards.

There is an antiques mall I love near the beach where a dealer has a personal collection of thousands of chocolate and candy molds. She has been thinning out her collection over the years, so I tend to pick a few up each time I visit there.

The large mold here was the first I purchased. One of these days I will make candy.

Here is another view of this side of my kitchen. I'll share more soon!
